About this data measure
- Infant mortality is the death of an infant before his or her first birthday and is considered an important indicator of the health of the broader community. (Source: CDC)
- Since 2017, the rate of infant mortality has declined in Rhode Island.
- For 2021, data on Black Rhode Islanders has been suppressed. Historically, the infant mortality rate within this population has been significantly higher compared to other racial groups.
